To be 'born yesterday' means to be naive and gullible, usually being used in a sarcastic and insulting way. Combined with the word 'sexy, it perfectly describes the trope of a sci-fi woman - a profoundly naive and unimaginably skilled entity from another world, a wise child's mind stuck in an overly sexualized, grown woman's body. On the other hand we have an ordinary, straight male character, who found himself alone or unsatisfied with love. A person who should be unremarkable becomes the main character and sci-fi woman's one and only love interest and guide on Earth.
These opposite identities of the two characters collide and mix together throughout the movies, making them constantly entangled with each other,
In this project, we wanted to let people experience this collision and entanglement on an abstract level, neither to focus on a movie plot, nor to judge or make comments on the fantasies, patterns, and gender power relations, but to detach oneself from an analyst point of view to focus entirely on our emotions, subconsciously emerging during experiencing the installation.
The installation puts a twist on the traditional concept of stereoscopic viewing. Instead of presenting two slightly changed images which create a 3D effect, there are two completely different visuals, which make each person's brain interpret and merge them differently.
To further amplify the experience, there are not only optical but also auditory stimuli, both of which can be controlled by the user, making every performance highly individual and extraordinary. Both mediums, even though abstract, are not random.
