This reimagined scaffolding system sits at the intersection of architecture and furniture, enabling spatial interventions without altering existing structures. Inspired by the natural phenomenon of commensalism, the 'host' is an aluminium framework designed for adaptability and aesthetic minimalism. 'Commensals' sprout from the host, emerging as shelves, lights, room dividers and tables.
The industry standard aluminium profiles can be used unaltered and are available from suppliers worldwide.
All pieces are held together by tension with 3D-printable connectors that provide versatile cross-scalar possibilities. 

This modular system enables flexibility and constant interior reconfiguration. By reimagining scaffolding, ‘Host and Commensal’ offers solutions for various cultural, domestic and commercial spaces, blending architectural permanence with the adaptability of furniture.
